Our meetings are normally the first Tuesday of the month. Our next Fraternity meeting will be Tuesday February 4th, 2020.
Following the election in September 2018 of a new Council, Bristol Fraternity roles are as follows: Fernando Cervantes (President); Roger Bird (Secretary); Liz Trimby-Howarth (Treasurer); Paul Williams (Formation).
At our January 2019 Bristol Fraternity Council meeting:
1. It was agreed that the Fraternity would sponsor an annual public Aquinas Lecture. Prof. Denys Turner (formerly of the U. of Bristol; now at Yale and Princeton) was suggested as the lecturer for 2019, in collaboration with the University's Chaplaincy and the Department of Religion and Theology.
Denys delivered a lecture, on Hope, Hell and the Psychopath: Thomas Aquinas and Dante on the Judgement of Sinwith with his normal wit and oustanding acumen and scholarship, on December 12th. It is hoped that the lecture will soon be published, and New Blackfriars was suggested as an appropriate location.
In 2020 the Aquinas Lecturer will be Fr. Simon Gaine OP, currently Regent of Blackfriars, University of Oxford and author of the book Did the Saviour see the Father? - Christ, Salvation and the Vision of God (T&T Clark, 2015).
.
2. It was agreed that there would be an annual retreat for the Fraternity. The first retreat will be held in Lent 2020 from April 3rd-5th at Belmont Abbey, a Benedictine abbey near Hereford. If you hope to attend please liaise with Roger Bird .

The annual Fraternity dues apply to all those who have been officially admitted into the Fraternity, plus any others who would like to make a voluntary donation. Please see below for details.
The dues should be paid into our Fraternity bank account. Details of the account can be obtained from our Secretary, Roger Bird, or from our Treasurer, Liz Trimby-Haworth (liz.trimby.haworth@gmail.com).
Cardiff members should contact Mike McLoughlin for paying their dues.

Some of you may know that two of our Bristol Fraternity members, Sean Loughlin and Michael McLoughlin, have set up a Lay Dominican group where they live in Cardiff. We are told it is probably the first formal Dominican presence in Wales since the 16th century!
For details of their meetings see the menu item 'Lay Dominicans in Cardiff'.

We have an annual Bristol subscription (fully professed Lay Dominicans also pay a national subscription annually):
£25 for those who are official Dominican members of the Bristol Fraternity, i.e. those who have been formally admitted and/or made either temporary or permanent profession;
£15 *as a suggested purely voluntary donation* for those who attend our meetings but are not official Dominican members of the Fraternity.
£5 *as a suggested purely voluntary donation* for any students or otherwise unwaged who attend our meetings.
Please note, dear friends, that these two latter categories of donations are suggestions and are purely voluntary. No one need feel under any obligation to contribute.
The annual subscription runs from the beginning of September. Subscriptions should be paid into the official Fraternity bank account set up by our Treasurer, Liz Trimby-Haworth (liz.trimby.haworth@gmail.com). Contact Liz or Roger Bird for details of the bank account.
